Power Generation from Waste Produced Energy
Idaho Senator Larry Craig (R-Idaho) joined Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) in proposing legislation that would promote the development of biogas through tax incentives and guaranteed loans for small businesses. Present legislation provides financial and tax incentives for power generation from biogas and other sources. Carbon and production credits should be leveraged to provide funding and new sources of income as well. We toured a municipal water treatment plant generating clean electricity from the biogas they produce, using two old 700HP Cooper-Superior generators. Their biogas is about 62% methane and 35% CO2. The production and power process is very simple. Biogas comes directly from their anaerobic digester tanks and is piped through a foam separation tank to a sedimentation tank - to achieve lower than 100PPM of caustic H2S. The system includes no catalytic converters yet produces 1 MW of trouble-free electricity. Heat from the generators is rechanneled into the digestion system for process heat. The maintenance crew performs normally scheduled maintenance, experiences very little downtime, and states that they have minimal problems with their system.
Anaerobically digested biogas can be further scrubbed to achieve a higher BTU value and grade of natural gas, allowing a greater variety of generators, turbines and micro-turbines to be used. All have the capability of CHP - combined heat and power.
Gasifiers use pellets, briquettes, or shredded/chopped biomass for combustion to power turbines and micro-turbines for clean electricity from syn-gas (mostly carbon monoxide and hydrogen), with marketable byproducts such as activated charcoal.
Resource Recovery Group is dedicated to helping biomass waste producers use waste to help control their own destinies with reliable and affordable sources of electricity, the excess of which can be sold back to the grid. We will guide you through any bureaucratic hurdles and permitting, help you procure funding, and manage the process through completion, startup and operation.
Wouldn't you want to participate in this new untapped bounty - one that can't be monopolized by mega-corporations? Let Resource Recovery Group show you how we can pay for our own cost many times over. You've got a business to run!
